IT WAS party time at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Oxford as young patients tucked into pop, cakes and sweets.
The party in the gymnasium in 1981 was organised by Uncles and Aunts, a group of workers at Nuffield Press at Cowley, who had been providing treats for children at the hospital for 20 years. They organised two parties a year and provided a basket of fruit every fortnight.
In this picture, ‘Uncle’ Brian doubles as Worzel Gummidge to entertain Sally Reynolds, left, and Andrew and Karen Lawson. There was also entertainment from a pop group and party games with the Uncles and Aunts.
