AN independent funeral director showed off an unusual mode of transport at the official opening of his Headington office.
Director Darren Hancock, 40, who set up the service 19 years ago, said at the launch on Wednesday: “I was very pleased with the day and Lord Mayor Dee Sinclair was there for the official opening.
“We had the motorcycle hearse outside because it showed people how we can offer more than just a traditional funeral. We can give people what they really want and tailor the funeral to their needs.”
The motorbike hearse has a sidecar in which the coffin is placed, and the family can then follow behind.
Funeral operative Tracy Hawkins said: “The motorbike hearse would be perfect for a motorbike enthusiast.”
DL Hancock Ltd has been based in Bicester for 19 years, and opened a branch at 126 London Road, Headington in February.
