WHEN her friends saw the framed artwork Jodie Gaul designed for her baby’s bedroom they all wanted one too.

She had based the design on her son’s name Theo, and after all the compliments, encouragement and requests that she should produce more, Jodie set up a website.

One of the first customers for her designs was department store chain John Lewis.

“It would have been my ultimate ambition to get my artwork into John Lewis, so to do it within the first year of launching was absolutely amazing,” she said.

Now, four years on, her company JG Artwork & Designs supplies personalised prints and pictures to a range of high-profile clients including the gifts website Not On The High Street.

Closer to home, she is delighted to be opening her new design studio and Bothy gift shop at Cuckoo Lane, North Leigh, in the grounds of the Eynsham Park estate, with an open weekend on Saturday and Sunday, from 10am to 2pm both days.

Jodie is hoping that those looking for that extra-special gift or unique artwork will pop in and browse the range, which brings to life charming words, illustrations and artwork in formats from fine art prints, notepads, key rings and greetings cards to gift wrap and much more.

“Opening my studio and gift shop is the culmination of a dream,” said Jodie, 33, who lives in Freeland and continues to draw inspiration from her two sons Theo, now aged eight, and Max, five.

“It will be wonderful to be at the heart of the community and I hope people will pop in and see what we do.”

John Lewis continues to stock her nursery pictures, and Jodie is currently in talks with them about developing new lines.
