A DISGRUNTLED ex-boyfriend phoned his former partner up to 30 times a day and spat in her face after they broke up, a court heard.

Lee Davis admitted harassing and assaulting his ex-girlfriend after their relationship broke down in August this year.

The 32-year-old confronted Kelly-Marie Jaycock in Cowley Road after she had been in a pub in the area on August 31.

As she waited at a bus stop, he called her names, pushed her into a doorway, and spat in her face before she could get away in a taxi.

Prosecutor Clare Barclay told Oxford Magistrates’ Court that since the break-up on August 24, he had been texting and calling Miss Jaycock up to 30 times a day.

Davis, of James Street, Oxford, also admitted a public order offence in which he verbally abused Mark Fenton, the manager of Sainsbury’s in Magdalen Street, Oxford, and described by defence solicitor Mark Dixon as Miss Jaycock’s former boyfriend, at the store on August 29.

Mrs Barclay said: “It became quite heated and Mr Davis was abusive to Mr Fenton and saying to him such things as “if you hurt her, I will f*** you over”.”

In mitigation, Mr Dixon said: “He accepts what he said to Mr Fenton was wrong. “He doesn’t have the best of feelings towards him but he knows that is not the best way to deal with them.”

Davis admitted harassment and assault at an earlier court hearing.

Yesterday he pleaded guilty to the public order offence.

Magistrates handed him a six-month jail term suspended for 24 months.

They also imposed a two-year supervision order and a community order requirement.

He must also pay £100 compensation to Miss Jaycock and £50 to Mr Fenton, as well as a £70 fine for the public order offence, an £80 victims’ surcharge and costs of £30. He was also handed a restraining order against Miss Jaycock.
