An 80-year-old woman has thanked a stranger who helped her after she tripped over and fell on her face while hurrying to catch a bus to London.

Mary Meagher, of Hugh Allen Crescent, Marston, said: “It happened at about 7.30am on Tuesday morning in St Clement’s.

“I tripped and fell on my face. The man who helped me was so kind and gave me towels to stop the bleeding.”

When she got to her destination, a doctor saw her and she was taken to hospital.

Ms Meagher, who is originally from New Jersey in the United States but moved to England in 1979, added: “It would be great to find out who helped me so I can say thank you.” Ring the newsdesk on 01865 425500 if you know the Good Samaritan.
