Sir – While the proposed new bridge over the Oxford Canal in Jericho (Report, September 5) will certainly provide a link from the Oxford rail station to the Oxford University’s new Radcliffe Observatory Quarter and to North Oxford, it will also be widely welcomed by residents of the development at Rewley Park.
At present the footbridge at Mount Place is extremely difficult to negotiate for the very young, the very old and cyclists.
The proposed low-level bridge, wherever exactly sited, will provide a very welcome link for the old and new communities on either side of the canal, so a big ‘thank you’ to the Oxford City Council for endorsing this proposal in the blueprint for the development.
