Cowley Community Centre C increased their lead at the top of the Premier Section with an emphatic 8-1 win at Section 1 side Shelley A.

Shelley took the pairs game which opened the contest, but that proved to be their only success.

Second-placed Railway Social Club A kept up the pressure with a 7-2 win over the visiting Angel.

Nuffield Arms B edged home 5-4 at George Bar B in Section 2.

George Bar took the opening game when Steve Pladdys beat Karl Smith, but Nuffield hit back through Mathew Brain and Roger Cotterell.

Dave Witherwick defeated Mick Richardson 3-0 to level the match.

But Nuffield surged ahead again with wins from Cyril Trinder and Tony Allday, and they clinched victory despite losing the pairs 2-1.

Morris Motors SC A ran out 6-3 winners at home to Quarry Gate B in Section 3.

Keith Ballard and Gary Roberts took the first two games for Quarry Gate, but Morris Motors hit back through Dyllan Davies (180), Martin Andrews and Dennis Moss.

John Merritt beat Chris Myers to level, but Motors took the pairs to secure victory.

the match 6-3 after a 3-0 pairs win.

Section 4's Sutton Courtenay FC had one of their best-ever wins when they defeated visiting Red Lion B 8-1.

In the ladies league, Shelley A posted their first win of the season with a 7-2 victory at home to Section 1 rivals Morris Motors.

Jane Slade, Linda Slay, Nicola Slay and Sue Smith (180) were among Shelley's winners.

Cowley Workers won 6-3 at Vikings with Steph Cox, Sam Cox and Sam Walton on target.
