Henley MP Boris Johnson has described the death of a friend kicked to death near a police station as 'monstrous' and pledged to help rid yob culture from the streets.
Stephen Langford, 43, died when he was attacked by a gang of teenagers outside a police station in Henley-upon-Thames as he walked home in the early hours of Saturday.
Mr Johnson knew Mr Langford through fundraising activities in the town, and has promised to meet with police to discuss ways to combat yob culture on the streets.
A post-mortem examination revealed the mobile phone network area manager from St Anne's Close in Henley died from a head injury.
Mr Johnson said: "He was a very, very nice guy. This whole thing was monstrous.
"This should be a rallying call for people wanting to get rid of the yob element from our streets and I am going to be having talks with police to see what can be done.
"This was absolutely monstrous. Mr Langford was a man who put himself out to help others and to raise funds for many good causes.
"It comes to something when a man is kicked to death in one of the safest towns in Britain."
Police say about four or five white youths were involved. They may have been carrying pizza boxes from a nearby takeaway.
Two youths, aged 17 and 18, are in police custody after being arrested on suspicion of murder.
