POLICE today warned licensees to be on their guard after two Bicester pubs were burgled.

Between 1am and 8am on Friday, burglars broke into The Centurion and Bure Farm public houses, Bicester, and forced open fruit machines stealing £75 from one and £1,000 from another.

Det Con Keith Hutchinson, who is investigating the incidents, said: "Pubs can be an obvious target as there is alcohol, cigarettes and cash on site and we will be working closely through the crime reduction advisors to help businesses to protect themselves and their staff by improving their security.

"In the meantime, we are appealing for information on either of these incidents and I urge people to consider if they saw anything suspicious in the areas and times that these incidents occurred."

Anyone with information is asked to contact Det Con Hutchinson at Bicester police station via the Police Enquiry Centre 0845 8 505 505.

Anyone who wishes to obtain advice on how to improve their security or to book a business premises crime prevention survey should contact David Campbell, their local Crime Reduction Advisor via the same number.

If you have any information but do not want to speak to police or do not want to leave your name you can pass information to the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
