Sir – In an otherwise ordinary and innocuous piece on childhood nostalgia (Gray Matter, August 8), Mr Gray has inserted an irrelevant and spiteful attack — the worm at the core of the apple — on the Guardian newspaper, “the hectoring, lecturing “Grauniad” we all know and loathe.” We ALL?
May I remind Mr Gray that many, possibly the majority in Oxford city (a Lib-Lab town with an enlightening touch of Green) at least, do not share his reactionary politics?
He should recognise his journalistic limitations and restrict himself to his usual fare — insipid lunch and dinner reviews.
Warwick Armstrong, Oxford
