My feelings were hurt, reading the letter from Keith Simpson, of Torquay, and his wretched visit to Oxford (Oxford Mail, November 27).
It made me feel like saying - "you should have stayed with me. I would have brought you breakfast in bed and free parking on our drive in an effort to secure your goodwill for Oxford".
I love Oxford deeply and its people.
The problem is - Oxford is the victim of its own success.
Being world renowned, it attracts visitors worldwide and the inevitable crush.
As long ago as the 1960s, I remember being jostled off the pavements of Cornmarket by crowds of eager visiting students.
In the name of prosperity, I suppose, we must accept the ever-increasing numbers with good grace.
