Sir - On reading Weekend (December 1) I was impressed by the wide range of local music and theatre events reviewed.
How disappointing then to find that despite the many excellent art exhibitions currently on offer in free public galleries in Oxford and our county towns, we are offered no reviews of any. Instead a review of an exhibition at a private gallery in Gloucestershire and a full page review of the Turner Prize (for which buy any national newspaper).
If it is indeed true that more people visit galleries than attend football matches now, this level of coverage simply isn't representative of the public interest in the visual arts. Come on The Oxford Times - surely you can find space to showcase one or two local exhibitions each week?
