HANG on a minute. Please don’t be too free in your assumptions about what “will” happen to West Way, Botley (July 31) Some of it may not.

No planning application for this site has yet been submitted. An exhibition of the developers’ proposals was held one weekend in February. A second presentation taking into account the responses to the first was promised for early July, but has been postponed to September. There is no certainty that a much-requested public meeting will happen.

Meanwhile, West Way Community Concern has organised its own questionnaire and held a well-attended public meeting (you were good enough to attend yourselves) to discuss the results, which were less welcoming of the proposals than the developers would have us believe.

Botley is a vibrant and growing community. Decisions taken now will last a generation or more. We need to be sure that they are the right ones for Botley, and at the moment many people are far from convinced. It’s premature, and fuels anxiety, to talk of what “will” happen and what “will” be “flattened”.
