A MAN with a history of depression took his own life by hanging, an inquest at Oxford Crown Court heard yesterday.

David Slatter, 54, from Enstone Road, Middle Barton, was found in his living room on February 27 this year when Elizabeth Taylor a friend of his for more than 30 years discovered his body.

His mother Mary Slatter became worried when she couldn’t contact him and asked Ms Taylor to check on him. A statement read to the court by Ms Slatter said her son had a history of depression brought on following the death of his father.

Assistant deputy coroner Peter Clark said he was sure the “deceased acted deliberately” after a long history of depression.
