A BICESTER branch of a pizza takeaway chain is set to become the second in the country to get a licence to deliver alcohol with food.
Dominos Pizza, in Buckingham Road, was granted the alcohol licence by Cherwell District Council and said it would now add alcohol to its menu.
The pizza takeaway said the Bicester store will be used as a test case to see if there is a market for the service.
No decision has been made on what kind of alcohol will be available as the policy is still “evolving”.
Checks will be put in place for drivers to check age and identification before any alcohol is handed over.
Lisa Lee, office manager for Dominos, said: “We are working very closely with the police and [council licensing] committee to put things in place.
“From a consumer’s point of view it’s not a bad thing. If you want a night in front of the TV and you want pizza and a bottle of wine, you do it in a one-stop shop.”
A spokesman for Thames Valley Police said it raised no objections after it was satisfied conditions were in place to prevent sales to under-age drinkers.
Cherwell District Council said the consultation period ended with no “relevant” representations received.
