IT seems that Oxford City Council has decided that the only criteria required to inform residents of pending planning applications in the immediate vicinity is to stick small yellow notices on telegraph poles.

Consequently residents do not see them or they disappear within a few days.

I live in a lane where the council has recently put up notices regarding a ‘revised’ planning application that will greatly impact on the residents.

Notices appeared on three telegraph poles giving residents less than a month to respond – the notices vanished within a few days.

We did not have objections to the original planning application but the revised plans have been radically changed and will greatly affect some of my neighbours. When trying to contact the planning department they either do not get back to you or are not particularly helpful. They could not provide a copy of the proposed plans (it was deemed to be too large) and not everyone has a computer to view and print off the details.

Is this a saving on postage or simply a way of getting applications through without residents objecting because they do not have any knowledge of what is going on?
