I am writing concerning the Shopmobility scheme, particularly the one in Bicester.

My walking has deteriorated with years and I can only manage about 12 metres without discomfort. Pre-Pioneer Centre days they were situated in Crown Walk car park, with six disabled parking spaces within walking distance. If not, the deliveries would be on the scooter/wheelchair car side. On the move to Crown walk, two dedicated reserved spaces were provided in Market Square.

The delivery service was appreciated and quite a few people started using it, who otherwise could not manage, i.e. could only do a few steps from their car. Imagine my deep disappointment when the women in the scheme were told that when they relocate, the service would no longer be provided.

This will preclude quite a few disabled people from discovering the new Pioneer Centre, including maybe myself, although I will attempt it.

I can’t understand the reasoning, obviously not health and safety (as a retired health and safety officer I see no added hazards from crossing Market Square).

I know the women in the Shopmobility are also very disappointed. They can see that quite a few of their clients will no longer be able to come to Bicester and discover the new centre.
