Littlemore Hospital escapee Ian McLean has not been spotted in mainland Europe, a police spokeswoman said yesterday.
McLean, given a life sentence in 2004 after stabbing his former lover in Banbury, escaped from an unlocked unit at the mental health facility nine days ago.
Police warned the public not to approach him, but they believe he fled to Europe within hours of leaving Littlemore.
Yesterday police spokeswoman Hannah Williams said: “We are continuing to work with overseas police forces and Interpol and are actively investigating to establish his whereabouts.”
