THERE was plenty of doggy-paddling in Lower Wolvercote, by Port Meadow, yesterday, with swimmers cooling down as temperatures continued to soar.
Visitor Bill O’Mahony, 59, enjoyed another scorching summer’s day with his Labradors Maisie and Ruby, who joined him in the River Thames for a paddle.
He said: “It’s gorgeous when the weather is like this and Port Meadow is one of my favourite places in the world.”
If you thought yesterday – St Swithin’s Day – was hot, you’ll need plenty of sun cream today as the Met Office has predicted maximum temperatures of 28C, with the glorious sunshine set to continue for the rest of the week.
Let’s hope the St Swithin’s Day proverb is true, as the next 40 days will be glorious.
