I HAD to chuckle, John Maden suggests Barton people might like to have a Toby Carvery.

I couldn’t help wondering if he has shares in Mitchells and Butler. Yes I am sure many Oxford area residents would like a Toby Carvery closer than Banbury. Personally I prefer the Toby in Reading, good wholesome food and I never feel robbed on paying the bill. For a little over £6, four different roasts and as many vegetables as you can eat.

I see the carvery as an up-market school dinner arrangement, you queue for your food, the chef serves the meat(s) you like, then you add as many vegetables and condiments as you want, the emphasis being mainly on the food and background service.

If a Toby ever does make it to Oxford, the existing restaurant trade would be worried, very worried.
