I READ your article “Father’s Festival Tribute to Amber” (July 8) about James Phillpott, from Abingdon, who organised the fifth ‘Yeah Baby Festival’ to raise money for charity, after his 18-month daughter Amber sadly died from leukaemia.
There should be more investigation into the causes of this disease.
Researcher Edward Priestley found the causes of many blood diseases include toxic chemicals, radiation and even certain medical drugs, which can damage family DNA.
If a pregnant woman has been exposed to them, her unborn baby can be affected. Benzene is a proven cause of cancer and yet is used in industry and is added to petrol.
Edward contracted severe aplastic anaemia (bone marrow destruction) and doctors didn’t think he would survive, but by avoiding toxic chemicals, decades later he is well and helps others with the disease, free of charge.
The EU admit that thousands of chemicals were allowed into common use without being properly safety tested to see if they cause cancer.
Certain cancers have risen significantly, even in children. Preventing the disease in the first place would prevent a great deal of suffering.
Well done to James and I’m glad the fundraising event was a success.
