Prime Minister and Witney MP David Cameron returned to his constituency yesterday to open the new head-quarters of packaging firm Polythene UK.

The company recently won the Environment and Energy category of the Oxfordshire Business Awards.

It came as Mr Cameron said he did not agree with a recommendation to increase MPs’ salaries. The Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (IPSA) proposed a rise from £66,396 to £74,000.

Mr Cameron said: “I think it would be wrong to increase the cost of politics and wrong to have a pay rise while there is still pay restraint across the public sector.”
