SCHOOL pupils from Abingdon helped break the world record for the most people writing the same story at once.
Around 80 students at Our Lady’s Abingdon queued to add two sentences to the yarn.
The school has now received its certificate from Guinness World Records to confirm that the pupils were among 3,217 people taking part in 69 venues across the UK, smashing the record in February. The previous record was 953 at five venues.
Each venue was given the same first page of a story entitled “My Family and Other Aliens” written by children’s author Matt Haig.
It began “Danny Shovel had little idea that the people he had called mum and dad were in fact deadly extra-terrestrials originally from a planet several galaxies away.”
The pupils then started writing at 12.20pm. By the time it got to 4pm, the story had taken some odd twists.
