RESIDENTS in Sherwood Place will certainly be sleeping more soundly this week.
Oxford City Council should be congratulated for seizing sound equipment after a raft of complaints.
Late night noise may sound like a first world problem to some, but try living next to it.
A lack of sleep has been proved to have detrimental effects on mental health, and no one will be sleeping soundly with banging dance music at 3am.
No one has anything against a party every now and again.
But clearly this was an ongoing problem, with booming music playing into the early hours on a regular basis.
It’s not as if the people making the noise weren’t given the chance to sort it out. Instead they ignored the council’s noise abatement orders and continued with their selfish behaviour.
With people cramming into new housing developments every year, being a considerate neighbour is increasingly important, especially in the city.
We all need to treat each other with respect.
It’s a shame some people need that pointing out.
