MELINDA Tilley on BBC Oxford (June 19) while talking about Oxfordshire County Council’s controversial idea to remove free bus transport to schools other than the nearest, remarked to presenter Phil Gale: “Why should you care, you haven’t got any children.

“Do you want to pay for this service?”

Is this the type of leader we want for the county’s head of education?

She had no idea of any consultation dates and seemed to then bumble her way through the rest of the interview.

This attitude of ‘I’m alright jack’ seems to be the norm for our main political parties nowadays.

Also, in the Oxford Mail (June 17), Mrs Tilley had a swipe at Bruce Ross-Smith saying: “Thank goodness for Bruce Ross-Smith. He knows everything about everything and can always be relied upon to put the rest of us right.”

Actually, Mrs Tilley, seems to go about her job with the attitude of ‘like it or lump it’. Perhaps savings could be made by removing her from County Hall.

Many people believe that they couldn’t do a worse job.

All the talk of public consultation is the council’s way of saying they listened.

Perhaps taking notice would be a novel way to go? Or not.
