PEOPLE with disabilities were shown sport is for everyone at a special activities day.
The Have A Go Sports Day event was held at Horspath Sports Ground on Tuesday.
The day also featured a “Wheels for All” event as part of Bike Week where those with disabilities could try out specially adapted bikes and tricycles.
Jake Harris, 14, from John Watson Special School in Holton, near Wheatley, was among the 150 participants to see what was available to him as he tried out a recumbent tricycle.
John Watson teacher Annette Gillow said the event had been good for the pupils’ self esteem and was also a chance for them to socialise with others.
She said sports on offer included judo and wheelchair football, but said the favourite among students were the specially adapted bikes, adding: “It gave them a lovely sense of freedom and movement.”
