A DOG SHOW will be part of the carnival at Pingle Field, Bicester, for the first time this year.

The canine contest will join pony rides, a Home Guard re-enactment and an inflatable army assault course at the event on Saturday, June 29.

The procession, with a “silver screen” theme, will leave Bicester Leisure Centre at noon and weave its way along Queens Avenue, Sheep Street, Causeway and Old Place Yard to Pingle Field, off Pingle Drive.

The carnival opens at 1pm.

Bicester’s new mayor Melanie Magee had the idea for the dog show to support her chosen charity, Medical Detection Dogs.

Mrs Magee said: “It seemed like a really fun new themed idea for Bicester, and our judge is my aunt who is a qualified Crufts judge so she’ll work hard to make it enjoyable and raise money.”
