The Health and Safety Executive last night confirmed it was providing support to a Thames Valley Police and Cherwell District Council investigation into the death of Austen Harrison, four, who was hit by a falling mirror at Bicester Village.

Austen died on June 8 after the incident in the Hugo Boss store.

Oxfordshire Coroner Darren Salter yesterday heard that Austen, from Crawley, was in the store with his father Simon on June 4 when the mirror fell on him.

He was taken to Oxford’s John Radcliffe Hospital with head injuries, but died four days later.

It was revealed the mirror was supposed to be fixed to the wall but was, in fact, leaning against it.

The inquest was adjourned.
