Sir – We are used to the council inventing figures, for example, to justify the demolition of Temple Cowley pools.
Now councillor Bob Price is too free with his numbers. He admits (Letters, June 6) that only 30 new homes are included in the Westgate centre plans and says this is: “20 more homes than are currently on the site.”
But Abbey Place alone has 14 homes in it so there cannot be more than 16 new homes. Mr Price destroys what he creates.
His council has approved the demolition in 2014-15 of these Abbey Place flats.
Ironically, they were built around 1990 by the council’s housing committee whose chairman was — Mr Price. So he, of all people, should know how many homes are there.
Chris Coghill, Headington
