A COMPANY that was refused permission to build a private care home next to a health centre has appealed against the decision.
Ashley House wants to build a 60-bed care home specialising in dementia behind the Mably Way health centre in Grove.
Doctors at the health centre’s two practices opposed the plan because they felt it would stop the health centre from expanding to meet the needs of a growing population in Wantage and Grove.
In May, Vale of White Horse District Council refused the application on the grounds that it would be “prejudicial to the demonstrable future health care provision of the area”, and detrimental to the character of the local area.
