A DRIVER was assaulted with a bike lock after a near-miss with a cyclist.

Police are searching for the cyclist involved in the incident, which happened at about 5pm on Saturday in Parks Road.

Police said the 32-year-old man was assaulted with a bicycle lock after his car almost came into contact with a cyclist. His car was also damaged.

He suffered head injuries, but has since been discharged from the John Radcliffe Hospital.

Sgt Matthew Sulley said “Police are following a number of leads. This attack was brutal and the aggrieved required hospital treatment for his injuries.

“We would like anyone who witnessed the incident to contact us as soon as possible.”
