STUDENTS at Oxford Brookes University faced delays of up to two hours for exam results yesterday after a website crashed.

The university’s Personal Information Portal (PIP) went down after students visited it to find out their results.

The system crashed shortly after 9.30am, when the results were released, and was down for about two hours, according to the university.

Brookes spokesman Matthew Butler said: “Oxford Brookes University strives to release exam results at the earliest opportunity and in advance of most other universities. Unfortunately, due to the volume of demand, with over 4,000 students simultaneously accessing their records, there were significant performance problems with the portal for two hours this morning.

“The system is now running normally, but unfortunately the problems did result in some students experiencing delays in getting their results.

“The university has recently agreed to invest £8m over the next two years to improve student IT systems and in the interim we will also work hard to prevent similar problems re-occurring.”
