YOUNGSTERS took their turn on climbing walls, went go-karting and enjoyed a host of activities at a playday aimed at armed forces’ families.

The Armed Forces Playday, organised by the Oxfordshire Play Association, was at the families centre at Bicester Garrison Centre, Ambrosden, on Saturday.

The free event included chances for people to try out a skatepark, put their DJ skills to the test, get their faces painted or produce art from recycled objects.

Service families based at Ambrosden and at nearby Caversfield attended.

Warrant Officer 2nd Class Stuart James, based at Caversfield, and wife Sonia James went along with their daughters Freya, two and two-month-old Megan Mrs James said: “We thoroughly enjoyed it, and it will be the first of many hopefully.

“We tried to use each of the different stalls, visited the reading stall and played in the sandpit.

“We saw people from round here who we knew and then my husband introduced me to some of his work colleagues that live in Ambrosden too so it was nice to catch up.”
