THE Henry Box School’s governing body has announced that Wendy Hemmingsley will become the new headteacher.

She is currently deputy headteacher at Gosford Hill School in Kidlington and will take over at the Witney secondary from September, replacing Nicky Edmondson, who is moving to Cornwall to become head of a school in Truro.

Ms Hemmingsley said: “It is a real privilege to be appointed as the next headteacher of The Henry Box School.

“It is a school with hard-working students, a fully-committed staff team and a history of success based on strong traditional values – what a great combination.

“I look forward to building on the many strengths of the school as we take the next steps of our journey together.”

Chair of governors Bob Bradley said: “Wendy was appointed after a very intensive and thorough selection process involving a large number of stakeholders which she came through with flying colours.

“She has a proven track record of raising achievement while engaging well with students, staff and parents.

“Not only that, she has, at her previous school, been innovative in engaging with the whole local community.

“We found her practical, down-to-earth style engaging, and her passion for ensuring every child achieves their full potential compelling. I look forward to working with her to deliver even better outcomes for the students in our care.”
