A higher proportion of people work in education in Oxford than in any other part of the country.
Nearly 24 per cent of Oxford’s population – or 16,452 people – work in the education industry.
Cambridge is the city with the next highest proportion with 23 per cent.
The figures were released yesterday as part of the Office of National Statistics’ 170 Years of Industrial Change project.
