A KNIFE-wielding masked raider threatened a female shop assistant before making off with cash.
Thames Valley Police is appealing for witnesses after the robbery in Littlemore on Thursday.
The force said at about 1.50pm a man entered VCR R&Co convenience shop and began shouting at staff.
He demanded an employee hand over money and waved a black-handled knife in her direction.
A customer managed to escape and contact police.
The shopkeeper, who did not want to be named, said: “My reaction was to keep calm because I didn’t know what to do because he had a knife in front of me. After he went, my body shook. It was horrible.”
The shopkeeper handed over a quantity of cash from the till before the offender fled on foot down a nearby alleyway leading to Long Wall.
The offender is described as white, wearing a blue jacket with the hood up, and grey tracksuit trousers.
Det Con Charlie Ellis, of Oxford CID, asked anyone with information to call police on 101.
