OXFORD’S civic roles and links with a twin town will be celebrated this weekend.

Tomorrow and Sunday, new Lord Mayor Dee Sinclair’s official celebrations will take place across the city.

Every year, the Lord Mayor of Oxford hosts a series of events and a parade.

Tomorrow, the festivities will kick off with performances in Broad Street from 10.30am, followed by a parade of councillors in full civic robes through the city.

Mrs Sinclair, who took the reins from Mohammed Abbasi earlier this month, said she was looking forward to it.

She said: “We’re expecting great weather and it’s going to be a lot of fun.”

In the afternoon, there will be performances of music and dance, storytelling, stalls and refreshments in Gloucester Green and at the Old Fire Station.

Music will also be performed on Sunday in Gloucester Green.

The weekend will also see Oxford celebrating Bonn Week, a celebration of they city’s links with Bonn and Germany, one of its twin towns.

On Saturday, there will be a burgerfest in Bonn Square and live music and dance from noon.
