For more years than I care to remember, the lane running down from Shotover to Gidley Way in Horspath has been called Sandy Lane and for the last 50 years or so (where it meets Gidley Way) there has been a road sign saying Sandy Lane with Bullingdon Rural District Council below it.
Recently, this sign disappeared, and more recently, a notice appeared in its place saying “The South Oxfordshire District Council and Horspath Parish Council propose to officially name the lane known locally as Sandy Lane, SANDY LANE”. It then goes on to refer to the lane as a road.
So far I have failed to find a councillor willing to talk about the notice, therefore may I ask SODC through the Mail’s letters page, how much has this wasteful exercise cost the council taxpayer and is there something going on (a hidden agenda) we the residents should know about?
Could it have something to do with the proposed reservoir extension maybe?
