ORGANISERS of a student ball have had to apologise after guests of the event say they were left in tears, with burns and without food.
The Last Ball at Somerville College - but also organised for Jesus College students - was advertised as a “last night of decadence, debauchery, and indulgence”.
But the organisation of the event on Saturday, May 4, which was attended by around 1,000 people paying up to £150 for tickets, has been condemned by many of the people who attended it.
Some of them have posted pictures burnt skin and dresses caused by the hog roast and one guest said they suffered from bruises as they struggled to get a pork roll before they ran out.
The committee of students behind the ball has said it failed to “manage expectations” and suffered from a lack of experience.
Plans to display a shark at the ball were scrapped last month because Somerville College expressed concerns about having the animal on show.
