ENGINEERS have carried out further repairs to Sandy Lane level crossing.
The crossing, where Banbury man Tom Pizzey, 85, died in January, malfunctioned again today following recent repairs.
Network Rail said its repair team completed the work and normal service resumed from 11.40am. Sandy Lane was closed to motorists when the crossing failed at 9.20am today.
A track circuit fault occurred. Network Rail carried out repairs on the crossing two weeks ago.
It apologised for the inconvenience.
In January Mr Pizzey died when the car he was travelling inside was hit by a freight train.
The Oxford Mail found that the level crossing had 21 faults last year.
Network Rail has recently met with residents and local figures in an attempt to address growing concern over the safety of the crossing.
