DISABLED youngsters from across the UK took part in a tag rugby tournament in Witney.

A total of 18 teams made up of about 400 young players, from nine clubs, took part in the event at Witney RFC on Saturday.

Witney Wolves, which includes pupils from Springfield School in Witney, took part and faced off against youngsters from all over the country. There were also rodeo rides, morris dancing and at midday the RAF Falcons parachute display team dropped in.

Mark Johnston, from Armagh in Northern Ireland, said his 13-year-old son Ryan, who has Down’s syndrome and plays for the Newforge Taggers, from Belfast, really enjoyed the day. He said: “It was a fantastic day, it really was. With the Falcons coming in to land and all the other things going on, everything about it was perfect.

“And Ryan loved every minute, he had an absolute ball.”
