WORK to start building the first phase of Bicester’s 5,000-home eco town has been delayed for a third time.

Developer A2Dominion which has planning approval to build 393 eco homes, a pub, business centre and shops, confirmed it now hoped to start work this autumn.

It said negotiations to buy the land for the first phase, off Banbury Road, Bicester, were ongoing.

Steve Hornblow, A2Dominion project director for NW Bicester, said legal processes still needed to be completed and autumn was now the target start date.

He said: “Land negotiations are well under way and we anticipate that entrance works to the site will commence in the autumn.

“We have been able to begin preparatory works already, which will help to speed the development along once construction on site begins.”

The 80-acre farmland site is owned by Resolution Property and Altitude Real Estate LLP.

Plans for the first phase of the eco town were approved in August 2011 with hopes work would start in February 2012.

Developer A2 Dominion took control hoping to start at Christmas, but the project was delayed again.
