There is an ongoing reluctance by Oxfordshire County Council to repair and make good the severely damaged London Road in Headington.

Apparently, it is investigating the possibility of expanding this road and does not intend repairing it until decisions have been made.

It has already missed a couple of dates for any progress.

Meanwhile, there is potential for accidents – road users weave to avoid the worst parts to prevent damage to their vehicles.

Surely, there is gross negligence withholding public money necessary for essential repairs and public safety?

It is the council’s duty to provide a reasonable road surface.

There is no excuse for delays.

London Road is the major gateway to Oxford and its wonderful hospital provision.

Its current state is hardly endearing to visitors and why would the business sector seek to invest in a city where both city and county councils show contempt and apathy regarding its infrastructure.

Rodney Rose interviewed on Radio Oxford last Friday stated he has recently used the road and vehicles don’t need to travel at 60mph.

I find this inappropriate.

From his remarks it is obvious he doesn’t regularly access this part of Oxford.

The council needs to respond promptly to speedily rectify this absurd debacle.
