A MUM was sexually assaulted while pushing her daughter in a buggy by a man who emerged from bushes.

The incident happened yesterday as the 36-year-old was walking along a footpath off Saxons Heath, Long Wittenham.

Police said the woman saw a man crouched in the bushes, who then followed her as she walked past at 9.38am.

He then indecently exposed himself and committed a sexual assault, officers said.

He is described as white, in his late forties, about 5ft9ins, “very” slim and with blond hair and a “very red face”.

Police said he was wearing a pale denim jacket and dark jogging bottoms.

DI John Turner, of Thames Valley Police CID, Abingdon, said: “I would like to reassure the community we take reports of this nature very seriously.

“These types of incidents are rare and we will investigate any reports immediately.

“This was a particularly nasty incident as the victim was walking with her child at the time, so I am keen to speak to anyone who may have seen someone acting suspiciously in the area around the time of the incident.”

He said: “The local neighbourhood teams regularly patrol their areas and will continue to do so.

“Long Wittenham is one of the safest places to live in the country and all of the officers who cover the area, neighbourhood teams. “Local CID and Patrol officers continually strive to keep it that way.”
