Police are still hunting a hit-and-run suspect who fled on foot after knocking over a man in Cowley Road.
The driver abandoned a silver VW Polo hire car, of which he was not the registered user, at the scene of the collision opposite Kenilworth Avenue at 10.40pm on Monday.
He was described as Afro-Carribean, about 6ft tall with dreadlocks, and wearing a grey top.
The victim, believed to be local and in his early 20s, suffered a fractured skull.
Call police on 101.
