COUNTY Hall chiefs still dominate the rich list of Oxfordshire public servants.

The TaxPayers’ Alliance (TPA) has released a list of all council employees earning more than £100,000 a year.

The list reveals the number of those earning more than £100,000 has fallen from 31 to 28 in Oxfordshire.

Oxfordshire County Council tops the list in the county, with 16 members of staff over the threshold, including chief executive Joanna Simons, who earns £217,640 a year including pension contributions, and environment boss Huw Jones, with a total of £152,935.

Council spokesman Owen Morton said: “Six county council officers were paid salaries of more than £100,000 in 2011/12 – the chief executive and directors. These senior managers have had no pay rise since 2008. The research carried out by the TPA includes employer’s pensions contributions.

With these figures included, the total for 2011/12 is 16 staff members.”

Oxford City Council pays four officials more than £100,000 a year.

The rest of the staff earning more than £100,000 a year come from Cherwell District Council, West Oxfordshire, South Oxfordshire and the Vale of White Horse but these all save money by sharing top bosses between authorities. Cherwell District Council shares with South Northamptonshire District Council; West Oxfordshire with Cotswold District Council and South Oxfordshire with Vale of White Horse.
