FAR from wanting to fix the problems of the A34, Oxfordshire County Council plans to make them worse by encouraging local traffic to use the trunk road.
They have a scheme in the background to encourage commuters from the new houses at Great Western Park, Didcot, heading for work in the enterprise zone on Harwell Campus, to use the A34 from Milton interchange to Chilton.
This will save Oxfordshire County Council the cost of providing a proper bypass for Harwell village, at the expense of more congestion on the A34.
Of course Oxfordshire wants to take over the A34, then the Highways Agency won’t be able to object to their plans.
