A CONSULTATION event will be held tomorrow on Tesco’s plans for a major new warehouse near Didcot.

It wants to open a centre to distribute goods ordered online at Milton Hill, between Abingdon Road and Featherbed Lane, west of the town, creating about 500 jobs.

If approved by Vale of White Horse District Council the supermarket giant hopes to open the development by late next summer.

Talks on the “Dotcom” plans will be held at the Milton Hill House Hotel, Mill Hill, tomorrow from 4pm until 7pm.

A planning application will then be submitted to the council.

Some 221 van parking spaces and 260 staff car spaces are planned for the 24-hour centre, the firm’s seventh.

Didcot Chamber of Commerce president Jayne Reddyhoff said: “Lots of people have concerns about the traffic, but if Didcot is to develop an increase is inevitable. It is a valid concern but everyone will have to come up with a plan.”
