THE Witney Music Festival bowed out with a bang on bank holiday Monday and promised to be back even bigger next year.

Thousands of people descended on the town for a week of free performances which culminated with shows at Marriott’s Walk and Cogges Manor Farm Museum.

In its seventh year, the festival was the biggest ever, being launched with an outdoor show at The Leys on April 26.

Witney resident Jacqui Brooks, 24, said: “My friends and I had not been before so went along to see what it was about, and we had a great time.”

Organiser Derek West said: “It has been amazing, although I need a break now.

“Although the weather wasn’t the best at the start, it has got better and better. We’ve welcomed thousands of people and it is really starting to take off now.

“We have bands from all over the UK, as well as providing a stage for local musicians to gain exposure. We’re a real part of Witney.”
