Dr MARY Keenan (ViewPoints, May 2) is either being disingenuous, or she lives in a different world to the rest of us.

The NHS has been run for years on the basis of providing services which can be afforded and now that David Cameron has done what he promised not to do (re-organise the NHS from the top down), the situation will only get worse.

The NHS is being privatised by stealth and we are increasingly being given only those services which can be afforded by the few crumbs of public money which the Government sees fit to let the NHS spend.

The repeated statement by Cameron and others, that the NHS budget is protected, belongs in the same filing drawer as the story about weapons of mass destruction.
